Update to Mirror Numbers – Collaboration in Progress
Here are the latest pictures from the Mirror Numbers Series Angela Oaks and I have been collaboratively working on over the long distance between NY and Colorado. Each piece is on a found fabric sample swatch and depicts a mirrored number as its starting point. Mirror #6(9): Petrol is done. So is Mirror #8: Marine Life (8 Clams), and now Mirror #3: Thunderbolt Toddy. #7 and #2 are getting close – see the studio pictures below. Click each image to see it larger.

Angela Oaks and I have been collaborating on a series of paintings on found fabric samples. Each swatch features a mirrored depiction of a number as its starting point. Work in Progress – Calendar Collaboration with Angela Oaks
Here is the latest progress on a collaborative piece my friend artist Angela Oaks and I are working on together. This is a found fabric calendar we’ve been painting, that has been cut up and sewn back together and now, I think, has potential to be viewed from either side. The “front” and the “flip” side are pictured below, and if you scroll to the third image, you will see what it looked like before it was cut up.

I was so delighted with the package my friend artist Angela Oaks recently sent from Boulder, Colorado. At the center of each swatch we’ve added a shape made from a mirrored number. We’re using those shapes to showcase various images inspired by the numbers as well as by (now-amusing) words like Petrol, Group I from the small labels in each swatch’s corner that were once used to catalog the fabric.
